What’s not to love about Montecito?

December 5th, 2023

From the natural beauty to a rich local culture, Montecito is an exceptional place to call home. Welcoming neighbors and rewarding adventures abound in all stages of life here, as nature, art, and community shape our every day. Below, we give our expert overview of just a few of the fantastic perks of living in Montecito.

Exceptional Education

In addition to a variety of premiere private schools, Montecito is proud to foster a few of the most coveted public schools in all of California. Recently ranked as the #3 Best Public Elementary School in the State, Montecito Union offers a 13:1 student-to-teacher ratio to its 375 students. It recently scored 87% in math proficiency and 83% in reading. Another cornerstone of our beloved public school system, Cold Spring Elementary, ranks as #1 for the Best Public Elementary School District. With 192 students and a 12:1 student-to-teacher ratio, CS recently scored 95% in math proficiency and 95% in reading. In a public review on a national ranking website, one local parent raved, “While Cold Spring may be the highest performing district in the state, what impresses me most is the emphasis on teaching children compassion and kindness. My children are so incredibly happy here. The friends they have made are all such positive influences, and their teachers go above and beyond what is expected of them. The administration really does care about each child, and it shows. This is a private school education at a public school, and I am so thrilled to be part of it.”

Endless Outdoor Excitement

With Montecito’s year-round blue skies and diverse landscape, outdoor activity is woven into the fabric of the community here in Montecito. Whether you’re yearning to hit the world-class hiking trails or unwind with a beach walk alongside friends, there is truly no end to the fun to be had alfresco. Miles of uninterrupted coastlines inspire surfers, sailors, and paragliders alike to seize the day from sunrise to sunset. Paddleboarders and kayakers can enjoy the gentleness of local harbors or explore the caves of the nearby Channel Islands National Park. Thanks to our multiple elevations, mountain biking, horseback riding, and hiking opportunities abound for beginners while experts enjoy the 1,257 miles of maintained trails in the nearby Los Padres National Forest. Take in a Polo Match at Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club, or even join the team after a few weekend clinics at the Santa Barbara Polo Academy. However you choose to enjoy the outdoors, the colorful sunsets and cool ocean breezes are eager to host your end-of-day glass of wine around a firepit or beach picnic.

Perfect Weather (Year-round!)

With a 2022 average temperature of 71º and only 4” of rainfall, Montecito is the crown jewel of California when it comes to perfect weather. Warmer than San Francisco but cooler than Los Angeles, Montecito enjoys a uniquely idyllic climate thanks to its varied landscapes of the Pacific Ocean, Santa Ynez Mountains, and rolling knolls. Not only do the year-round temperate climates and gentle breezes make outdoor activities and relaxation limitless, they also deter bothersome common pests and insects that prefer more extreme climates. With big blue skies and warm, sunny days perfected with a crisp ocean breeze, there is truly nothing better than our guarantee of another beautiful day.

Flourishing Community

A community is made by its people, and Montecito is no different. Our intimate feel is achieved by a commitment to frequent festivities, gatherings, and philanthropic events. Distinguished & Diverse Real Estate

With wood-beamed ceilings, plaster walls, hand-painted tile, and gentle arches, the romance of Spanish Colonial and Missional Revivalism is woven throughout our hometown. Less plentiful but equally sought after, new construction in Montecito tends to blend ethereal neutrals and organic elegance with clean lines for a classic California cool. With stunningly beautiful homes and a lifestyle to match, the real estate market here can be challenging.
